It’s ok to work hard, as long as you play harder."

Oh, Joey. You are so very missed. You touched many people in ways we may never fully know.

As a youngster, you were a study in happy motion-–always exploring and independent and never a bit shy or frightened. Your laugh was pure joy, and it lifted the heaviest heart. Even when you put a complete twist in your Mom or Dad’s knickers, it was hard not to smile and laugh. No one could ever be peeved with you for long, least of all me. Such a cool kid.

And so it was as you grew up to be a strong and adventuresome young man. What fun to hear of your travels and experiences. I am grateful that you have so many, many wonderful friends around the globe who care deeply for you.

Even as we miss you so profoundly, I think of you as soaring high to meet the world on your own terms–-quick as the wind and just as happy as sunshine. Please save a hug for me.

With much love.
