It’s ok to work hard, as long as you play harder."

I know this bulletin board of Joe’s life is extremely helpful in the healing and remembering process that we are all going through. I know that Julie, George & Katie as well as my family have benefited from all the stories and insight to the life of Joe, Joey, Ham, George…. Milligan that have been posted here. My family only got to see Joe at Christmas and summertime when he was home from college and on occasional family vacations.

I find myself looking forward to each time I visit Joe’s site that I might find some new memory or photo that lets me laugh or cry with Joe once again. We have all pasted the photos of Joe on our computers and Tyler (my son) now wants to “be like Joe” and find his way to Australia and the Gold Coast of surfing. So if any of those that have visited this sight have additional memories or photos of Joe, I would appreciate you added them to this site as it helps me complete “Joe’s book” in my mind. And maybe, just maybe, it will help some new surfer a find sense of peace and harmony in this rather turbulent world in which we live.

I also know that Julie, George & Katie have some other stories of Joe that I think are indicative of Joey’s straight up, pragmatic life style. For instance, I remember George telling me a story that occurred at the now famous Milligan New Smyrna Beach Condo when Joey was 3 or 4 and George was the President of the Condo Association. I think only George could tell it accurately but it was on a Saturday or Sunday morning at the pool when all the owners were gathered together reading their papers and having their morning cup of coffee prior to a pending Association meeting. George, when you read this, please complete this story as I sure we would all love to relive this moment in time with you.
