It’s ok to work hard, as long as you play harder."

I had a realization about you today Joey. For two years now I’ve been practicing mindfulness meditation most every morning to try and re-wire my brain to start living more in the present moment. I couldn’t guess how many hours adding up to days I have spent living life in the past or future of my thoughts. How many mornings I’ve been brushing my teeth, thinking about a meeting that I had the previous day. Then driving to work worrying about some deadlines that I have quickly approaching. Sitting at my desk at work and wondering if I was saving enough money to insure my daughter can go to college without taking on debt. So many moments in an ordinary day with my mind elsewhere. So many positive things in life missed because of worry. I realized this morning that you had the ability to live in the present moment better than anyone I’ve known. That essentially there are millions of people out there meditating to try and reach even a fraction of the peace and presence you had all along. I now think that was a large part of why everyone was drawn to you. Your sense of peace and presence was able to be projected to a degree on the people you were with. I think if the duration of life was measured by how many PRESENT moments each person has had, you likely lived five times longer than most.
