"Take care of yourselves and each other, and always remember my motto:
It’s ok to work hard, as long as you play harder."

Standing in the salon of the sportfishing boat I am currently working on I heard the phone ring. Ryan (capt) answered and the following conversation ensued “Hey dad, yeah the fishings good, no we haven’t heard from Puck, no.....Milligan?” My heart stopped beating and I screamed down the hall... “RYAN SAY HE WASN’T IN INDO!!!!”

The last time I saw Joey we were somewhere on the coast of Australia....I cant even remember where. I don’t know if the surf was good or bad....if we were partying or not (actually, I’m pretty sure we were on it)...what I do remember is laughing, a lot of laughing. There was something about Joey. I always knew that when we hung out, no matter what was going on, I would be laughing.

Guys these are hard times.....Ryan and I haven’t had much to say in a week or so.....we are staying busy.....but every morning we run out to fish........as I ride...........I have my headphones on (as you all know, its my pleasure) and I listen to one song by Green Day.......a slow gig......the lyrics are “take the photographs and still frames in your mind, hang it on a shelf in good health and good time.......i hope you had the time of your life”........Joey had the time of his life! His last email had me laughing and crying and laughing again.....what a unique and special individual he was! His vocab words used while describing his passions constantly appear in my mind and bring a smile to my face.

As the day passes I see the “Millies grin,” when he’s had too much to drink.....getting an email from him with some stupid movie quote from “Lair, Lair” as the title (“nice image – deleted” “that’s cause you got big...” “loser, geek, wimp...” were some of our favorites)...knowing a surf vid so good that he yells at me from three rooms away “dude, watch this, Dorian´s about to get a sick pit”....just from the song that’s playing on the vid. Guys hold this, its priceless......its what keeps us close and always respecting each other . Life separates us and, now, brings us together......you’re all good friends....regardless of time or distance!

all the love-be safe friends.....

dear skin - wherever you are...........i hope the surf is pumping.............you will always be in my heart..........every set wave that comes my way i will think of you.............i love you brother............
